Summary

The eco-zoning Tertre is a project initiated by the Walloon Minister of Economy via “a call for project”. This call fits in a territorial approach named "Heart of Hainaut, energy center". This eco-zoning project is implemented by the creation of several working groups (WG) with different themes. Each working group is led by a project manager selected from the partners. IDEA, an economic actor of 27 municipalities, coordinates the work done, manages meetings, groups’ animation, etc.

Irisphere project (Industrial Symbiosis) in Brussels

Summary

As part of an Interreg IVB project (C2C BIZZ), Citydev.brussels and its technical sub-contractor EcoRes addressed material and energy flows on a business site, at company level. New ‘material’ matches were made between companies on site. The experiences were used to develop the Continuous Loop Tool, a database for companies where they can add their waste materials and the resources they need in order to find matches. The Irisphere program will continue after the end of C2C BIZZ on a larger scale thanks to the ERDF.

Summary

The objective of the Regional Programme for a Circular Economy (Programme Régional d’Economie circulaire – PREC) is to encourage the transformation of the linear economy into a circular economy. This programme focuses on some of the main sectors for Brussels including sustainable food. Moreover, the food topic is specifically addressed by the GoodFood strategy for a more sustainable system of food consumption and production. By rethinking the food chain, the GoodFood strategy (also called ‘GoodFood Brussels’) aims to reduce waste and increase the amount of food grown locally.

Summary

“Good Food Canteens” is a project that supports a shift towards sustainable food in the Brussels-Capital Region in institutional kitchens, including kitchens in nurseries, schools, companies, care homes and other administrations whether they are under their own management or that of an outside catering company.
