Summary

The Circular Friesland Association (Vereniging Circulair Friesland) was initiated by coorporations within Friesland, later drawing in the provincial municipalities as partners. There was an acceptance that future business models would have to change due to the changing state of natural resources. In Friesland the chains are short and most parties are already familiar with eachother, allowing the concept of circular economy to be absorbed in the transition that was already taking place within the area.

Summary

The Ecodynamic enterprise label was created in 1999 by Brussels Environment. This Environmental Management System (EMS) offers private companies and public administrations with a systematic approach to lowering their impact on the environment. The “Ecodynamic enterprise” label is an official recognition of good environmental management practices by the Brussels-Capital Region. It encourages the introduction of an EMS, with a view towards eventual EMAS or ISO 14001 registrations. There are three levels depending on the initial level of environmental performance within the organisation. Each level is symbolised by stars. Applications are evaluated based on a large range of criteria. These criteria concern specific ecomanagement actions, quality of the environmental review, and the plan of actions established.

Summary

The entity’s “Better than new, 100% Old Campaign” made proposals for change aimed at the most sensitive citizens. The campaign encourages repair and reuse with a view to extending the useful life of the products along different routes: repairer network in districts, second hand and exchange markets, specific repair workshops, etc. (2010)

Summary

ITIA-CNR continuously supports the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector by bringing innovation in the factory. The enabling technologies and tools developed by their Research Departments are used to realize physical pilot factories which represent valuable platforms to support industrial research and the transfer of research results to companies. One example is a pilot plant for the De–and Remanufacturing of automotive mechatronic components. Some others research fields in addition to demanufacturing are Industrial Products-Service System and Product-Service Systems across Life Cycle or the future of 3D-printing.
