In 2012 Sofia Municipality launched a system for separate collection of hazardous household waste. The system includes door-to-door collection by request or in mobile collection points, providing transportation and packaging for safe transport, subsequent treatment and disposal.

Odense operates eight civic amenity sites, i.e. approximately 24,000 inhabitants per site. All sites have approximately 30 containers for different material fractions. There is access control (national medical health card) to register visits. All sites are manned (two employees per site). The opening hours are generally from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. all weekdays (also holidays).
