Summary

After discarding rehabilitation of the old city hall building as an option due to the bad technical condition of the building and high maintenance costs, the city of Venlo decided to demolish the old building and erect a new city hall that would satisfy the current needs of accessibility and functionality, while delivering at the same time a positive contribution to the town, the staff, the environment and the economy. A design and build competition was launched in 2009, in which designers were asked to present their vision of a sustainable building, making sure to include the use of appropriate safe and healthy materials which can be recycled after their lifetime.This brief focuses on the tender process of the office furniture.

Summary

The Marshall Plan 4.0 (2015-2019) which follows the Marshall Plan 2.Green (2009-2014) is the economic redeployment program for Wallonia. It intend to refocus the priorities of this economic restructuring program around the digital economy and circular economy. The Marshall Plan 4.0 develops a transverse axis dedicated to the circular economy as part of the Competitiveness Cluster Policy, with a specific focus on SMEs, and in collaboration with relevant actors. This focuses on the joint use of material flows and energy.

Plastic Metal and Drink packaging PMD collection in Flanders

Summary

PMD stands for Plastic bottles and flasks, Metal packaging and Drink cartons. These waste streams are collected together in a transparent blue bag. The bags are collected door to door on a two weekly basis, as well as on the civic amenity sites. Afterwards the bags are sorted out in a number of different waste streams and sent to recycling facilities.
