Ghent Food Strategy

Action leader(s)

Ghent municipality

Summary

The main goal of Ghent’s food policy is to lessen the negative climate impacts in every step of the food chain and increase the sustainability of the food system. After instating the project ‘Thursday Veggie-day’ [Donderdag Veggiedag], the city wanted to create a strategy that would help towards the goal in making Ghent a climate neutral city by 2050, including its food system. As a result of this commitment, Gent launched the Gent en Garde program in 2013.
