Summary

Circular economy has been implemented in Lapland through industrial symbiosis, in the so-called “arctic way”, creating an ecosystem and investing on the natural resources present in the region. The main site of arctic innovation in Lapland is the Kemi-Tornio sub-region, where a technology park which utilises industries’s byproducts has been developed. The region also hosts the Finnish National Industrial Circular Economy Centre, working on circular economy and bioeconomy at national level.

Paris strategy on circular economy

Summary

In July 2017, ACR+ member the City of Paris adopted a plan for the development of the circular economy on its territory. To ensure this necessary transition to a less resource-intensive economy, the city aims to support the development of businesses that do not generate waste or that avoid the production of waste by offering a second life to objects. The plan is declined in multiannual roadmaps focusing on specific actions, coming in particular from the proposals made in the “white paper for circular economy of Greater Paris Metropolis” adopted in 2015.

Summary

The City of Prato’s strategy targets the construction sector, aiming at reducing and reusing construction and demolition waste. The City as developed measures to regenerate degraded and marginalised parts of the city with a “5 R” approach (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover, Residual treatment), engaging in a number of partnerships at both local and European level. Circular economy in Prato has been integrated in the city’s Strategic Operational Plan, aiming not only at urban regeneration but also at an improvement of social cohesion and community life.

Summary

The Autonomous Region of Sardinia, first Italian region to introduce its own regional strategy for green purchases, developed a new regional plan for Green Public Procurement (GPP). The main policy strategy is the PAPERS, a regional plan, containing objectives and actions to implement green and social criteria for public procurement also within the Operational Programme European Regional Development Fund (OP ERDF) 2014-2020.
