Regional Council of Lapland
Circular economy has been implemented in Lapland through industrial symbiosis, in the so-called “arctic way”, creating an ecosystem and investing on the natural resources present in the region. The main site of arctic innovation in Lapland is the Kemi-Tornio sub-region, where a technology park which utilises industries’s byproducts has been developed. The region also hosts the Finnish National Industrial Circular Economy Centre, working on circular economy and bioeconomy at national level.
