Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region (Economical and Environmental Directorate)

Summary

The former Rhône-Alpes Region (now integrated in the larger Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region) dedicated several of its policies – economic development, company’s environmental management, waste management, Eco-innovation, research and training – toward a Circular Economy. Within an ‘Integrated Circular Economy Regional Project’, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region coordinates four different projects to make it possible: Industrial and Territorial Ecology, INNOV’R, Sindra, and Eco-designed Collective Buildings. Those four fields of intervention are very focused on businesses and industries, apart from the policy about hazardous waste which also includes a part involving the civil community. Those policies also aim at respecting the Regional Hazardous Waste Elimination Plan. Since the French territorial reform in 2015 leading to the creation of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, a network on circular economy has also been established.
