In Utrecht in the last few years a great diversity of community gardens has emerged. These include: gardens where young children work together with elderly people, gardens where people with diverse ethnic backgrounds unite, gardens where vulnerable people with severe mental and addiction challenges can find peace and learn to participate in society again, gardens in privileged neighbourhoods as well as in poorer districts, food gardens, educational gardens as well as more creative art gardens.
